1967: A stand-up fondue picnic for skiers at Snowmass-at-Aspen, Colorado which has more than fifty miles of trails and snowfields. The village was opened in 1967. The ski picnic was organized by Holiday magazine, with the helicopter being used to bring up hot food. The guest list included Howard Head (1914 - 1991) of the Head Ski Company, president of IBM Thomas Watson Jr. (1914 - 1993) and his wife Olive (nee Cawley, 1918 - 2004), Norwegian Olympic skier, Stein Eriksen, and American restaurateur Armando Orsini (1923 - 2011). About the Artist – Slim Aarons (Limited Edition)

The Estate Stamped edition is the only limited edition the Slim Aarons estate authorises. Printed from the original negatives in Getty Images London darkroom, in partnership with Electric Gallery.

Aarons died in 2006, so no print made today can carry his signature. The estate stamp takes its place. It is the recognised mark of authenticity for his work and the reason these prints trade in a different market to open editions.

The edition is limited to 150 worldwide. That is 150 across every size combined, not 150 per size. Once a number is taken it is gone.

Every print is hand numbered in ink, carries the blind embossed Slim Aarons signature and arrives with a certificate of authenticity confirming edition number, image title and provenance.

Edition pricing The price rises as the edition sells through. Four tiers, each 15% above the last.

  • Editions 1–75: Tier 1 - initial price
  • Editions 76–100: Tier 2 - price increases by 15%
  • Editions 101–145: Tier 3 - a further 15% increase applies
  • Editions 146–150: Tier 4 - a final 15% increase applies

Buy earlier and you secure the lower price and the lower edition number.

George 'Slim' Aarons (1916–2006) Slim Aarons spent five decades documenting the world's most privileged lives - poolside in Palm Springs, on the terraces of Italian villas, at private gatherings attended by Hollywood royalty and European aristocracy. His archive, acquired by Getty Images in 1997, remains one of the most distinctive records of twentieth-century glamour ever produced.
